Wind was up and down all day. I had pretty much given up hope of a sail by midday, but then had one last check at 1pm and 22-24 mph was being reported so thought I would go for a sail before driving on up to London for the Prodigy gig at Brixton Academy.

Crappy session though. Big shorebreak and high-tide lumpiness, despite it being 3+ hours after high tide. The wind was slightly offshore and very holey on the inside, making getting going very difficult. Had to sail a long way out each time before getting into the straps. V cold water as well, so had to wear boots, and they are GAY GAY GAY. Make you completely lose all feel of the board. I'm sure I was planing less early with them on.

Only stayed out for about half an hour...being underpowered on the inside I had drifted downwind and then my starboard harness line semi-detached itself from the boom...so couldn't be arsed with sailing any more in the crappy conditions. Still, was good to get out after several cold windless weeks, and the first outing for my brand new 2006 Rock 5.2 which felt proper good - even more light and "forget it's there" than my old 5.2 which I didn't think would be possible.

Prodigy gig was mighty fine...
